Staff and volunteers at a Tree of Lights event

Fundraising & Event Volunteers play a crucial role in supporting our mission. They generously contribute their time, skills, and resources to help us organize fundraising events that benefit Hospice East Bay.

Our dedicated volunteers actively engage in various aspects of event management, including event planning, guest registration, decoration, bartending, candlelighting, securing auction donations, and fostering corporate partnerships.

Each role is vital in ensuring the success and enjoyment of our fundraising events. If you’re interested in exploring our fundraising volunteer opportunities further, please contact Ann Mimiaga, Fund Development Manager, at (925) 887-5678.

Giving in the Garden 2025

Giving in the Garden

This intimate gathering is designed for our most dedicated donors and takes place at stunning garden venues. Guests enjoy wine, beer, hors d’oeuvres, a live auction, and a “fund-a-need” opportunity, alongside a brief update on Hospice East Bay’s programs and services. In the lead-up to the event, we engage with over 1,000 donors through print materials and social media campaigns. As a ticketed event, Giving in the Garden also provides valuable networking opportunities with like-minded individuals and business owners. Our Giving in the Garden event will be held on Sunday, June 29, 2025 at The Gardens at Heather Farms.

Tree of Lights

Each November and December we host multiple Tree of Lights ceremonies across Contra Costa and Alameda counties. These gatherings allow donors to dedicate a light on a tree in memory of a loved one, whose name is then read aloud during the ceremony. Many ceremonies include a pre-event reception with refreshments and light bites, providing an opportunity for guests to connect and reflect. Vendors are welcome to set up tables, share promotional materials, and engage directly with attendees. Attendance at each ceremony ranges from 50 to 150 participants, and our promotional mailer reaches over 3,000 community members. As a free, non-ticketed event, the Tree of Lights is open to all who wish to honor and remember their loved ones.

Legacy Luncheon

Legacy Luncheon

This exclusive event is held at a locally owned restaurant for donors who have included Hospice East Bay in their estate plans. The luncheon provides us an opportunity to share updates and news about Hospice East Bay, while also expressing our gratitude for the generous financial support of our Legacy donors. Although this event is invite-only, there are still opportunities for recognition during the program and in print materials. Our Legacy Luncheon event is scheduled for Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at Massimo Ristorante in Walnut Creek.

Rossmoor Benefit Concert

This event takes place at the Rossmoor Event Center and begins with a meet-and-greet, featuring wine, beer, and light bites. As a ticketed event, it provides an opportunity for vendor tables, allowing you to showcase your products or services to the vibrant Rossmoor
community. With a capacity of 450 attendees, the Event Center is always sold out, ensuring excellent visibility and engagement with the audience. Our Rossmoor Benefit Concert event is scheduled for Thursday, August 14, 2025.

Memorial Brick Ceremony

Brick Dedication Ceremony

This event is held in the serene Bruns House garden in Alamo and takes place in September. It offers families the opportunity to honor their loved ones by purchasing a brick or nameplate for dedication. Following the dedication ceremony, a small reception is held to connect with donors and families. This is a non-ticketed event and open to all, providing a meaningful way to support and remember those who have touched our lives.
